The Festival of Maha Shivratri

Wednesday February 26, 2014

The auspicious day of Maha Shivratri, is celebrated on the 6th night of the dark Phalgun, in the months of February or March, every year. This year the festival is on 27 February 2014. It is the day that devotees of Lord Shiva observe a fast and keep vigil all night.

So on this auspicious day, let us find out what Param Pujya Dadashri, says about Lord Shiva. Dadashri says that the one who becomes the embodiment of salvation (kalyan swaroop) is called Shiva. ‘Shiva’ itself means kalyan swaroop, or Savior. So in reality any human being who attains 'Self Realization' achieves the internal state of 'Shiva.' Achieving this state implies that one has swallowed all the poisons (abuses and insults) given to him in this world, with equanimity and yet offered blessings to others, hence becoming Shiva.

Param Pujya Dadashri became the embodiment of salvation, when he achieved spontaneous Self Realization (experience of the Soul) in June 1958. He used to impart the same knowledge of the Self, to others, in just 2 hours. Pujya Dr. Niruma attained Self Realization from Pujya Dadashri in 1968. Currently, Pujya Deepakbhai continues to grace seekers with the Self Realization Ceremony. You too can attend a Self Realization Ceremony with Pujya Deepakbhai. Thereafter by observing the five Agnas (fundamental principles) you can attain ultimate salvation and achieve the internal state of Shiva.
