Parents’ Day
All of us would agree that we may not need a ‘Parents’ Day’ to celebrate the importance of our parents – who raise us, love us, support us and sometimes scold us for our good! Thanking them every day may not enough!
However, today we may choose to take a moment and think as to what is it that we have done for them? Have we fulfilled our duties towards them? Have we shown our love and respect to them?
And more importantly, have we ever hurt them by our mind, body or speech? - Through arguments, fights, stubbornness, disobedience, clash over difference of opinions, taking them for granted, ignoring them?
Do you know the consequences of such behavior? Param Pujya Dadashri says, “Children who see faults in their parents will never be happy. They may have material wealth, but they would never be happy spiritually. You must never see faults in your parents. How can you forget what they have done for you?”
On the occasion of Parents’ Day, why not take a vow to never hurt our parents? And how about a deep repentance (pratikraman) and seeking forgiveness for the hurting we have done to them? Food for thought! Happy Parents’ Day!!
