Shatter the Darkness within

When you start seeing sparkling diyas lit in the veranda and balconies of Indian homes you must guess that the festival of Diwali has arrived. This festival not only brings brightness, newness and freshness in homes but also in the minds of people. Everyone forgets old grievances and grudges and gets together to celebrate the ‘Festival of Lights’.

This festival however has a deep hidden inner meaning. It reflects the celebration of conquest of light over darkness. The story of Ram conquering Ravana is actually a symbolic representation of this fact.  However, is it possible for us to win over the darkness in our lives as well? When we say, defeating darkness, it actually means overcoming the darkness of our problems and difficulties through the light of right understanding and ultimate knowledge.

This happens when one receives the knowledge of the Self from the Gnani Purush (One who has realized the Self and is able to do the same for others). This knowledge helps us conquer the vices and darkness within us like anger, pride, greed, deceit and while doing so one gets the distinct experience of one’s pure Self - ‘The Pure Soul’. Why not witness this ourselves by receiving the knowledge of the Self through the grace of the Gnani?

Let this Diwali be the perfect time to enlighten our inner light through the knowledge of the Self, the light which will shatter the darkness of ignorance…
