Happy Friendship Day

In honor of Friendship’s Day, let us reflect on what makes a good friend:

  • Someone who is amicable, who helps you enjoy life.

  • Someone who supports you through your suffering.

  • Someone who is honest and trustworthy.

  • Someone who teaches you and guides you.

  • And most importantly someone who loves you unconditionally.

Of course there are innumerable qualities that make a person a good friend, but these are some of the main points. Our Gnanis, Param Pujya Dadashri, Pujya Niruma, and Pujya Deepak Bhai, are the epitomes of a friend. Who is more amicable than a person who sees the divine in everyone and everything? They not only help you through any and all suffering, they eradicate it from your life. This Gnan teaches you the ultimate truth that leads you to ultimate liberation. Their love for each of their disciples is pure unconditional love with no strings attached and they see the true you; not the temporary package but the Pure Soul. The only wish they have for you is for you to understand your true Self and reach moksha. This Friendship’s Day, let us honor our Gnani’s wish for us as they selflessly have given their lives to help us. Let us pay it forward by applying this Gnan.

What is a guru?

A guru is more than just a teacher; he is a guide. He teaches his disciples the ultimate truth, he offers the tools to overcome ego by introducing a person to his true self- the pure soul. He teaches what is right from wrong and how to absolve yourself of past wrongs. When a person truly surrenders to the Guru’s guidance, he will become free from suffering and achieve eternal bliss.

What is the importance of a Guru?

A guru is the only person who can guide a person on the path to liberation so that he or she can finally escape the illusion with truth and no longer suffer through the bondage of sorrow and death.

What is Gurupurnima?

Gurupurnima is an Indian festival which is celebrated during the full moon when the Guru is in his full form. The word Guru literally translates to Gu- darkness, and Ru- Antidote of darkness. Just as the full moon illuminates the dark night, it is during this sacred time that the guru’s disciples will be able to receive the most “light” from his guru so that they can find their way out of the darkness and achieve more towards their spiritual growth. Param Pujya DadaBhagwan states that whatever is asked of him during this time in relation to ones progress towards achieving enlightenment, he will grant it.  The DadaBhagwan Foundation makes the most out of the auspicious period by holding a week shibir every year for all of its followers as well as anyone who is interested in finding truth and a path towards liberation. This year it will be in Phoenix, Arizona from July 26- July 31, 2015. Pujya Deepakbhai will hold satsangs on the 27th& 28th, perform GnanVidhi on the 29th and on the final day, Gurupurnima Day, everyone who attends will get a chance to do a personal darshan with Pujya Deepakbhai. Every year people gather from all over the world to attend this event, because not only is it spiritually fulfilling, it is also filled with fun events, including a children’s cultural show and garba.

Parents’ Day 2015

Parents’ Day

All of us would agree that we may not need a ‘Parents’ Day’ to celebrate the importance of our parents – who raise us, love us, support us and sometimes scold us for our good! Thanking them every day may not enough!

However, today we may choose to take a moment and think as to what is it that we have done for them? Have we fulfilled our duties towards them? Have we shown our love and respect to them?

And more importantly, have we ever hurt them by our mind, body or speech?  -  Through arguments, fights, stubbornness, disobedience, clash over difference of opinions, taking them for granted, ignoring them?

Do you know the consequences of such behavior? Param Pujya Dadashri says, “Children who see faults in their parents will never be happy. They may have material wealth, but they would never be happy spiritually. You must never see faults in your parents. How can you forget what they have done for you?”

On the occasion of Parents’ Day, why not take a vow to never hurt our parents? And how about a deep repentance (pratikraman) and seeking forgiveness for the hurting we have done to them? Food for thought! Happy Parents’ Day!!

Pujya Niruma’s Gnanday

Do you…

  • Cause sorrow and fear to others?
  • Scold someone blatantly?
  • Have expectations from others?
  • Insist on these expectations to get them fulfilled at any cost?
  • See fault in those who do not fulfill your expectations?

Well, if the answer to any of the above questions is ‘YES’, we know that we are NOT living with love. Where there is love, one does not see fault in others.

But wait, Pujya Niruma sought promise from us to ‘LIVE WITH LOVE’ with the entire world!!!

Then how can we fulfill Pujya Niruma’s final wish if it is our human nature to have expectations, see faults, get angry and hurt one another when things are not favorable to us? Can we overcome our instincts?

Of course yes! We can live with love in all situations through Gnan, correct knowledge. And what does Gnan say? That real love should not break under any circumstances. It is only possible when there is not even an iota of expectation, overt or subtle, from another person. Through this right understanding, we will be able to fulfill Pujya Niruma’s wish and thus lead a life without stress, conflict, worries and anger.

So let’s make a simple but concrete start on this auspicious day, 8th July; Pujya Niruma’s 48th Gnan Day!  Let’s get going, but in a resolute way – driving ourselves to get rid of these faults and making Pujya Niruma proud of us!!
